A one-day conference exploring opportunities and challenges for the Mexican music industry and the role of the music and creative industries in social and economic development in Mexico and Latin America.
According to Billboard, Mexico is the 2nd largest Latin music market after Brazil, but it is the largest music market in Spanish language. The conference will unravel the stories of Mexican and Latino professionals in the music industry and explore challenges and commercial opportunities for the music industry in Mexico.
The event, organized by NYU Music Business Alumnus Alonso Villagomez in collaboration with the NYU Music and Social Change Lab will feature presentations by Professor Carlos Chirinos, Luis Rivera (Music Choice), Diana Castro (NYU), Jordi Oliveres (Univision), Francisco Outon (formerly from Remezcla), Los Macuanos (Mexican Band), and Claudia Norman (Celebrate Mexico Now Festival in New York). Presenters will explore diverse topics including music production and distribution, digital media, Mexican musicians in the US and Mexican women in the music industry.
